We are looking forward to seeing you at our official side event of the European Week of Regions and Cities. In this event jointly organised by the City of Lahti European Green Capital 2021, LUT UniversityLahti Region Development LADEC Ltd and Helsinki EU Office we will highlight how cities can build a new and innovative policy tool to reduce mobility emissions and prepare for today’s challenges in urban mobility.

Transport accounts for 25% of the European Union’s greenhouse gas emissions. For Europe to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, transport emissions must be reduced by more than 90%. Furthermore, transport should become drastically less polluting, especially in urban areas. As European Commission will publish a comprehensive strategy for Smart and Sustainable Mobility later this year with the aim of harnessing digital technologies to make mobility smart as well as sustainable, we offer a great moment to explore the best practices on sustainable urban mobility from City of Lahti – the European Green Capital 2021.
