Preparations for a regional growth company are progressing

The shareholders of Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd and Lahden seutu – Lahti Region Oy have issued their statements on the proposed merger of the two companies. Preparations for the merger will proceed to decision-making by the City of Lahti Executive Board in May.

At the end of March, the City of Lahti Executive Board requested opinions from the other shareholders of Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd and Lahden seutu – Lahti Region Oy regarding the consolidation of the companies’ operations through a business transfer. The aim of combining the activities of the two regional development companies is to achieve greater impact in strengthening the vitality, attractiveness and growth of the Lahti region.

Based on the responses received from municipalities and universities, the proposed arrangement has been viewed positively. In the business transfer, Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd will sell its business operations to Lahden seutu – Lahti Region Oy.

In connection with the merger, a new ownership strategy will be prepared and the financing agreement and shareholders’ agreement will be updated. These documents are intended to be submitted for approval to the City of Lahti Executive Board during May.

Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd is a regional vitality development company owned and funded by the cities and municipalities of Päijät-Häme.
Lahden seutu – Lahti Region Oy (Visit Lahti) is a regional tourism company owned and funded by the cities and municipalities of Päijät-Häme.
The City of Lahti is the largest shareholder in both companies.
