Lahti Region Construction Circular Economy Cluster “RAKI"
Through the circular economy, construction and building industry companies can not only reduce their environmental and climate impacts but also achieve cost savings. Solutions based on the circular economy may also command a better price than those relying on virgin materials.
The Lahti Region "RAKI Cluster" offers companies growth opportunities and competitiveness based on the circular economy in the construction sector.
Through the cluster, companies gain knowledge and expertise on circular‑economy‑driven business opportunities, as well as access to new construction value chains where circular solutions are developed and applied.
Companies can also utilise their circular economy expertise in responsibility reporting, brand development, sales, marketing and recruitment. For example, in the near future, public construction projects and their impacts will increasingly be assessed using circular economy criteria. The "RAKI Cluster" helps companies strengthen their competitiveness and improve their chances of success in tendering processes.
The cluster also provides information on the tightening construction‑related regulation (climate and nature impacts), especially on how companies can prepare for and respond to these requirements through circular solutions.
In addition, the cluster offers a platform and pathway for new RDI projects, helping develop innovative circular economy solutions and digital tools that support or utilise them.
The Lahti Region Construction Circular Economy (RAKI) Cluster is intended for all construction sector companies in the Lahti region, as well as companies serving these industries. New companies are continuously accepted into the cluster.

The launch and activities of the "RAKI Cluster" are linked to the project “RAKI – Lahti Region Construction Circular Economy Cluster” (Ref. A81727), managed by the City of Lahti and implemented from December 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027 with LADEC as a co‑implementer. The main objective of the project is to establish the "RAKI Cluster" and involve local companies in receiving up‑to‑date information on the new Building Act’s sustainability regulations in infrastructure, new construction and renovation, and to develop and utilise new circular‑economy solutions. The project is funded through the EU Sustainable Urban Development 2021–2027 – Lahti Ecosystem Agreement (ERDF) by the Regional Council of Uusimaa.
