New growth company Lahti Region Oy begins operations

A new growth company will be responsible for developing business services, tourism promotion, regional marketing and international attractiveness initiatives in the Lahti region.
The operations of the regional business development company LADEC and the tourism company Lahden Seutu - Lahti Region have been merged into a single organisation. The arrangement was completed on 30 June through a business acquisition in which the operations of Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd were transferred to Lahden Seutu – Lahti Region Oy. At the same time, the company's official name was confirmed as Lahti Region Oy.
The purpose of the new growth company is to accelerate sustainable growth across the Lahti region. The company will continue the existing functions of the regional development organisations, providing business and development services, strengthening investment promotion and Invest-in activities, and advancing tourism and regional marketing. In addition, it will build and strengthen a shared message for the Lahti region both nationally and internationally.
In line with its ownership strategy, the growth company will focus its activities on development that renews the region’s business structure and supports international growth. It will also strengthen the regional competence and innovation environment in cooperation with local educational institutions.
- Our goal is to promote growth driven by research, development and innovation in particular. Development efforts will be targeted at clearly defined strategic priorities based on the strengths of the Lahti region and around which international growth can be built. Invest-in activities aimed at attracting new businesses to the region will also focus especially on these priorities, says Elina Laavi, Director of Vitality and Economic Development at the City of Lahti.
The company's operations are founded on a business-oriented approach and close cooperation with local, national and international partners.
- We are building a strong, commercially driven entity in which tourism serves as a key engine of growth. Our work will continue through familiar services, but in a more unified and impactful way. Our objective is to provide businesses, investors and talent with comprehensive one-stop-shop services, says Raija Forsman, CEO of Lahti Region Oy.
The renewal of the corporate structure is based on a business development review published in autumn 2025.
